Praxis attends international Investor Summit at the United Nations
Representatives of companies managing $22 trillion in assets discuss climate-related challenges
Mark Regier and Benjamin Bailey of Praxis Mutual Funds® were among investment leaders invited to the 2018 Investor Summit on Climate Risk at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
The invitation-only summit occurs every two years at the UN. The investor, business and capital market leaders at this year’s event on Jan. 31 represented more than $22 trillion in assets.
“We were honored to again be invited to participate in this biennial UN Investor Summit,” said Regier, Vice President of Stewardship Investing for Everence and Director of Sales for Praxis Mutual Funds.
Participants mapped out steps for addressing risks related to increasing changes in climate. The event also highlighted the many investment opportunities related to the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement, which went into effect Nov. 4, 2016, is a commitment by nations around the world to strictly limit the rise in global temperature to two degrees Celsius.
Regier described the event as “a gathering of some of the world’s largest institutional investors seeking to better understand the social and financial implications of our changing climate. It presents a unique opportunity for information sharing and collaboration on a global scale. I always leave this event challenged and inspired.”
Bailey, CFA®, Vice President of Investments and Senior Fixed Income Investment Manager for Praxis, said the Investor Summit is a valuable chance to connect.
“I think it is the new contacts and ongoing relationships that make this event so valuable for Praxis Mutual Funds and for Everence,” Bailey said.
“We regularly interact with issuing banks, current and prospective bond issuers and like-minded investors at the heart of the growing green and social bond markets,” he said. “We discuss the challenges and opportunities we see in climate-aware investments and the role these products can play in the portfolios we manage.”
