The honey is manufactured by Sweet Beginnings, an organization that employs people who find it difficult to get employment, including those who have been recently incarcerated. Working for the organization lets a person establish a work history, learn productive work habits and gain marketable skills.
Through community development investing, Praxis Mutual Funds helps support Sweet Beginnings and other organizations like it that are doing important work to make their communities more inclusive and sustainable.
Building better communities
Praxis has invested $1 million in Benefit Chicago, a collaboration of MacArthur Foundation, Chicago Community Trust and Calvert Impact Capital. Money raised from the collaboration is used to support organizations in the Chicago region. Sweet Beginnings is among the six organizations receiving the first round of funds.
