Foster mom opens private school in India

More than 400 million student-aged children live in India, but only 260 million are currently enrolled in school. Many government schools are under-funded and under-staffed. Private schools offer a better option – Varthana provides loans to affordable private schools with support from Praxis.

Victoria Robert knew how important good education was for the 60 orphaned children 

that were in her care. Public schools did not meet her standards, so she chose to start her own school in her home in 1991. Since then, the school has grown to over 600 students and a new location.
