Mark Regier, Josh Bean and Jerry Gray of Praxis Mutual Funds® were among more than 1,300 participants at the recent Kingdom Advisors conference in Orlando, Florida. Praxis has been a sponsor of this event since 2008.
Kingdom Advisors, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is an organization of Christian financial professionals. It offers training toward a Certified Kingdom Advisor designation, which signifies that an advisor has been trained in biblically wise financial advice.
The Kingdom Advisors annual conference is the largest gathering of Christian financial professionals, and this year’s event was the largest to date.
Praxis is also a founding member of the Christian Investment Forum which regularly hosts a preconference workshop at Kingdom Advisors, which offers educational and motivational sessions related to biblically responsible investing.
The highlight of Praxis’ involvement at the conference, however, is its annual Praxis Impact Investing lunch. The luncheon, focused on Discovering the sweet taste of impact, featured speaker Brenda Palms Barber, CEO of Sweet Beginnings, LLC.

Sweet Beginnings provides transitional jobs in a green industry to people returning from incarceration – producing and selling raw honey from its urban beekeeping operation and honey-infused body-care products under the beelove™ brand.
Sweet Beginnings produces its honey from apiaries (bee farms) in several locations in and near Chicago. The employees learn marketable skills and develop a stable work history so they can reenter the workforce.
The Praxis Impact Investing lunch featured beelove honey – living up to its billing in offering “the sweet taste of impact.”
Sweet Beginnings is one of the beneficiaries of Praxis’ $1 million investment in the Benefit Chicago initiative, part of the Praxis commitment to place more than 1 percent of its funds in community development investing.
