The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment has appointed Mark A. Regier, Director of Stewardship Investing for Praxis Mutual Funds and Everence Financial, to its board of directors. His term will begin in 2014.
“It is an honor to be asked to help guide this important leadership organization,” said Regier. “US SIF plays a vital role in establishing the policies and industry-wide initiatives that shape many aspects of sustainable and responsible investing in this country and around the world. I look forward to integrating the vision, experience and expertise we’ve built at Everence with those of other leading social investment organizations as we seek to grow this important field.”
“With 20 years of service to the church and a background in ethics and theological studies, Mark is a respected resource for national and international organizations on faith-based and community investing issues,” adds David C. Gautsche, President of Praxis Mutual Funds. “He will be a valuable asset to US SIF and an important bridge with the religious community.”
US SIF is the trade association for professionals, firms, institutions and organizations in the United States engaged in sustainable and responsible investing. The organization and its members promote investment practices that consider environmental, social and corporate governance criteria to generate positive social impacts and competitive long-term financial returns.
At Praxis and Everence, Regier oversees the company’s investment screening, proxy voting and corporate engagement activities, and led the creation of the Everence community investing program, which seeks innovative ways to channel investment dollars to underserved communities across the country and around the world.
Regier has also served as governing board chair for the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility and founding chair for the International SRI Working Group (U.S. Social Investment Forum). In addition to US SIF, he also sits on the boards of the Isaiah Funds (disaster recovery investments) and Partners for the Common Good (faith-based community investments). In 2006, Regier received the SRI Service Award, the U.S. social investment industry’s highest honor.
