Announcement follows years of investor engagement

McDonald’s has announced an industry-leading goal to recycle all post-consumer packaging in its restaurants by 2025. Also by 2025, 100 percent of McDonald's guest packaging will come from renewable, recycled, or certified sources.

To reach these goals, McDonald's will work with leading industry experts, local governments, and environmental associations to improve packaging and recycling practices. Together they will work to drive smarter packaging designs, implement new recycling programs, establish new measurement programs and educate restaurant crew and customers.

While recycling infrastructure and regulations vary around the world, McDonald’s plans to be part of the solution however it can.

Praxis Mutual Funds® has supported improved recycling efforts at McDonald’s and other fast food restaurants through its proxy votes for many years, in addition to periodic engagement with the companies. The As You Sow organization has led shareholder advocacy actions on recycling with McDonald’s.

Praxis and other shareholders believe McDonald’s commitment will have a positive ripple effect on other fast food chains.
